Content Needs Context is the fruition of founder Julie Taraska’s experience in editorial strategy, communication, and craft.

Julie spent nearly two decades in the U.S. and Europe writing and editing pieces about products, tech, design, and sustainability issues. Publications including The New York TimesWallpaper*, British GQ, Icon, Metropolis, Quartz, and Fast Company have featured her work.

With brands taking over the telling of stories, she segued into marketing. She was a founding editor at e-commerce pioneer Gilt Groupe and the first communications writer at Perkins & Will, editorially positioning the international firm’s material research, climate-resilience efforts, and digital-design technologies.

She started Content Needs Context in 2018. Since then, she and her team have helped over two dozen sustainability-minded design and tech businesses amplify their impact through words, strategic planning, and cultural savvy.
